Club Good Hurt 1/13 Los Angeles, CA
It’s been a little hectic during the past few days with some driving, lots of playing, and a bunch of surfing along the Southern California coast. Following up my set at Genghis Cohen as part of the Shout It Out Promotions showcase event, I performed another solo acoustic set at Club Good Hurt near Venice Beach, CA. This show is always a blast (especially as a solo acoustic act) because it’s a fully pro stage setup with lights, smoke machines (yes, smoke machines) and a great monitor and front of house system. Long story short, the monitor mix was awesome and, from what I heard after my set from the folks out in the audience, the main mix sounded tight, too! It’s a little funny/awkward to perform a solo acoustic set with smoke billowing from stage left while a strobe light blasts on and off and a little light show dances across the stage, but you know what? It’s also pretty darned cool. Thanks to Club Good Hurt for putting everything together for the night. It couldn’t have gone any better up there!
While I didn’t manage to get s shot of the venue or the stage, I did manage to pick up a shot of the surf at Sunset just north of Santa Monica, CAÂ the following morning before I drove farther south to San Diego, CA. It was pretty much “on”, but so was the crowd. No matter, though… I picked off quite a few fun set waves and found a nice little peak to looker’s right of this shot that nobody was on for whatever reason. All in all, not a bad way to wrap things up in LA before fighting traffic down south to San Diego, CA!
