Long Beach, 4/21 Gigging at diPiazza’s
After doing some touristy stuff and meeting with some folks all over Los Angeles in the morning, we headed down to Long Beach to check out the scene, find a place to crash, and get acquainted with the venue (diPiazza’s) where we were scheduled to play that night. Turned out out to be a pretty painless drive (surprisingly) so we had plenty of time to cruise through Long Beach, check out some other venues, and just get a general lay of the land. Pretty cool spot, I have to say!
We finally made it back to diPiazza’s to load in and set up. The stage was awesome and the sound girl was outstanding making the monitor mix sing and the front of house soar. Plus, she hooked us up with a great live recording from the show which ended up being pretty darn good, actually. Jesse was en fuego with his arsenal of hand percussion and things seemed to go pretty well that night.
After the show, we crushed some pizza, hung out for the next act, then cruised around listening to the recording from the show. It was at this point where we stumbled upon this place:
While we didn’t eat here, we took a couple photos for fun, then cruised back to the hotel to get some shuteye for our radio interview at USC followed by our gig down in San Diego later in the evening on the 22nd.
