Paso Robles, 4/16 Workin’ Hard Here at The Pour House
After a fun, but long day hanging with the folks at The Krush 92.5 FM followed by a fun set at The Porch in Santa Margarita, we cruised back north to Paso Robles, California to kick off a semi-outdoor evening at The Pour House. In what seemed to be a kind of converted warehouse/garage of sorts, Shaw Copen has fashioned a pretty cool live music venue replete with a great stage, good sound, and great lighting. With more beers on tap than you can shake a stick at, it pretty much made for the perfect live setting to jam out some acoustic renditions of my tunes.
We were joined by local artists Scott Hicok and Ricky Montijo and ended up having a huge jam session at the end of the night with some serious audience participation on percussion and background vocals. Talk about an enthusiastic group of music fans! Pretty cool.
I almost forgot to mention, however, a little slice of burger perfection that we found down in San Luis Obispo before the gig. I mean, look at this thing! Incredible… if you ever head to SLO for any reason at all, make sure you swing by the Firestone Grill and get yourself an ABC Burger with the works. Wow…
After the gig, we cruised back to the motel on what was apparently the wrong side of the tracks (yes, Jesse, it does smell like there’s a sewage leak right under out beds…ugh). Still, it was a bed instead of the floor we had in SLO the night before, but I wonder if it was worth the clothes pins over the nose to cover up the raunchy smell emanating from some faulty sewage setup nearby? In any case, a bed is a bed and we needed some zzz’s with two 2-hour sets (back to back) coming up the next day in San Luis Obispo.
