Back Home & Writing
Ah, home sweet home… After 15 performances over 11 days or so (and a lot of driving in the Tacoma), I was pretty whipped. Picked up a bit of a cold, but did some work this week booking some east coast shows and a few more shows up and down the coast here in California. I’m also looking at making a trip to Nashville to check out that scene for a little bit this June. I’ve heard so much about it and so many folks have been telling me that I need to get out there. Well, I suppose it’s time.
In any case, speaking of Nashville, I started writing this little country (probably more Americana, I suppose) ditty yesterday. I’ve got a pretty solid chorus, pre, and bridge, but I’m hammering out some verses now. I started playing around with this open/alternate tuning that this guy Mark in Santa Barbara showed me when I toured through town last week. It turns out that it’s got me out of a few of my crutches and it’s been a lot of fun fiddling around with some new stuff. I’m diggin’ it… I’ll keep ya posted on how it develops. I should have this baby done by tomorrow along with a few other ideas. Gotta keep my country/bluegrass chops up if I’m headed to Nashville, right?
