Half Moon Bay, CA 07/29/12
Waking up to your friends’ kids delivering a smoothie to you in bed (nevermind, waking up in a bed!) was an awesome start to this Sunday morning. After crushing that thing (in a ChiMcClean.com pint glass, no less), I cleaned up, picked up my surfboards from my storage facility in San Francisco, then headed down to my favorite spot in Half Moon Bay, CA (Crab Landing) to set up and perform for a few hours.
I was running just a bit behind, so when I got there with hardly any time to spare and saw another musician performing, I totally thought I blew it: did they get impatient, drop me, and hire another guy within 30 minutes of my previously scheduled start time? Impossible! As it turned out, there was a scheduling glitch and I wasn’t set to go on until 4:00pm. Well, that meant time for a little visit to my favorite taqueria just up the street in Montara, CA: El Gran Amigo. Tres tacos de carne asada, una quesadilla, una botella de Coke, y una copa de horchata… ¡Que rico!
After mowing down some of the best Mexican food I’d had since moving to Tennessee, I packed it up and drove back down to Crab Landing for what ended up being just over four hours straight of live music (if you don’t count the brief pause to repair a broken string). As usual at this joint, it was a really fun time and all sorts of locals and tourists swung on in to check out the scene, sip some drinks, sample some local seafood, and just wind down the weekend with a smile. We had a blast and my good friend and killer singer/songwriter, Dan Littlefield, swung by and sat in for a song, too. It was a hoot and I couldn’t believe that I had been playing for 4 hours when I finally decided to call it quits. I guess time does really fly when you’re having fun… Take note: I will be performing one more time at Crab Landing in Half Moon Bay, CA this coming Sunday, August 5th from 1:00pm until 4:00pm before continuing on down the road, so mark your calendars now and come on down for some food, drink and live music.
Big thanks to the gang at Crab Landing and my friends and fans, both new and old. Sunday was, indeed, a FUN day.
