I absolutely love Room 5 Lounge in Los Angeles, CA. The sound is so good, the vibe is unbeatable and, maybe just as amazing, there’s tons of easy parking outside (sorry, but LA locals will appreciate that one, at least). After making the slightly stressful drive through rush hour traffic from Ventura to the Hollywood area of Los Angeles yesterday afternoon, I arrived with plenty of time to spare to hear the opening act, Ashley Jordan, who absolutely did a phenomal job – especially considering it was only her third live performance ever (hard to believe).

A number of good friends were in the audience last night, along with some folks I met recently at a conference back in early March, so I was really excited to get up there, do it up, then catch up with everyone. After a quick sound check, I opened up with a slightly shaky rendition of “A Thing Or Three” before I really began to kick the road and my cold out of the system. After that one, and a few tweaks to the monitor mix, it was “on”. Lots of fun ham’ing it up with the audience, great to play again for everyone in town, and such a great experience to be able to reconnect with some old friends… The only miss for the evening was my buddy Joel Eckels who I always enjoy jamming with on a song or two at Room 5 Lounge. Sadly, he had another obligation for the evening, but he was certainly there in spirit.
After saying goodbye to pretty much everyone, I made it to my favorite post-gig spot in LA these days – Canter’s. I was too hungry to stop for a picture, but I can assure you that the corned beef, pastrami, boiled cabbage and potatoes were amazing. Oh, yes… the cheesecake was insane!
A gigantic hug and big thanks to the staff at Room 5 Lounge for making it a smooth, easy, and fun night, as always. Big thanks, too, to my friends and fans who made the effort to post on a Tuesday evening and join in on the fun. I really appreciate the support and the opportunity to perform for you all again. Hope to see you all again soon!
