Back To Work
Well, this weekend was pretty cool. Not bad as far as holiday weekends, go! The surf finally returned to San Francisco for a little while and I got to play a last minute gig in SF while catching up with some friends that I hadn’t seen in quite some time. Plus, I met some really great people through my friend Mark Sackett who was kind enough to come to my set at Rockit Room on Saturday with a huge posse of his buddies. That turned into a pretty serious night of wine tasting at his friend Mark’s private wine cellar somewhere in The Mission District of San Francisco including a late night, private acoustic set, and then (wait for it) Mel’s Diner at about 5:30 AM. Yeah… I haven’t had one of THOSE nights in a while, and I now remember why – going to bed at 6:30 AM doesn’t work too well with the sleep schedule!
In any case, after the sun and surf have retired for the week, it seems, it’s back to writing out some some charts for my upcoming recording project starting this Friday afternoon while trying to finish up some song ideas that have been lingering for a little too long. Classic problem: plenty of good music but searching for better lyrics… they’ll come… oh, yes… they will!
This weekend, it’s off to the West Coast Songwriters Conference down in Palo Alto, CA and a little Saturday evening gig up in one of my favorite tiny towns in the Bay Area: Penngrove. Should be a nice week with lots going on, so keep your fingers crossed that I get all of my charts done! (And yer toes, too!)
